I Cannot begin to tell how old this zipper is, I know it probably dates before the 1950's. It is a jeweled zipper, to be sewn into a fancy dress or lady's garment. A professional seamstress will be able to work with it and attach it somewhere. I always admired it even as a little girl. it measures L-from left to right: 9 1/2", from the jeweled pieces: 8". W-1 3/4", from the jeweled pieces:1/2". The zipper needs a bit of 'moisturizing', but it does work well zipping up and down. It was probably taken off a fancy garment of some kind, delicate, but in Very Good/Excellent Condition!
